Through official Google OAuth, with the account that has access to the property. You pick the property (domain or URL prefix) and GIO stores only encrypted tokens. The scope is read-only.
No. The integration uses a read-only scope (webmasters.readonly). GIO only reads data for analysis — it never changes property settings.
The Search Console integration is available on the Pro plan or higher, with at least one property connected via OAuth.
Google's Search Analytics API delivers data with about a 2-day latency. GIO communicates this when relevant — it's a limitation of Google's own API.
